Matthew Shreve

…is a Seattle-based composer (currently living in New York City) whose music has been performed by ensembles and soloists across the United States. Their composition “A Lover” has been published by North Star Music, LLC. Their works have been featured in performances by Fresh Squeezed Opera, Opus 7 Choral Ensemble, Tucson Symphony, and Tucson Repertory Orchestra.
Shreve is pursuing a Master of Music in concert composition at New York University Steinhardt, studying with Shelley Washington and Justin Dello Joio. They hold a Bachelor of Music in Composition, under the mentorship of Jiyoun Chung, with a Minor in Non-Profit Organizational Management and a Minor in German Studies from Central Washington University in Ellensburg, Washington.
Shreve's compositions are characterized by their lyrical, intimate, and expressive qualities. A core tenet of their artistic philosophy is a commitment to inclusivity and diverse representation within the arts. This commitment motivates them to create works that shed light on the multifaceted nature of queer identities and experiences.
